Dr. Jenny McGown Honored with ‘Empowered Superintendent Award’

Klein, TX—Klein ISD Superintendent Dr. Jenny McGown has been awarded the prestigious Texas Education Technology Leaders’ "Empowered Superintendent Award." 

This award recognizes superintendents who have promoted and supported innovative uses of technology in their districts. Dr. McGown’s dedication to leveraging technology for educational advancement has set a benchmark for others to follow.

Throughout her career, Dr. McGown has been a leader in leveraging technology to enhance educational experiences. Under her leadership, voters approved the largest bond in Klein ISD history, including a technology bond, to purchase devices for students and teachers, classroom technology, and enhance existing infrastructure.

“This recognition belongs to the entire Klein Family, because none of the amazing work we do today in classrooms across Klein ISD would be possible without our talented teachers and supportive community who believe that our kids deserve the absolute best tools available for their education,” Dr. McGown said. “I also want to thank our incredibly dedicated employees in our technology department who work tirelessly every day to enhance the top-notch education that our hardworking educators provide our students.”

Her leadership has been pivotal in fostering an environment where innovation thrives to empower educators and enrich student learning experiences by bringing cutting-edge technology into classrooms.

“When we look to integrate technology into education, it’s not just about keeping pace with the times…it’s about leveraging tools to unlock the potential within every student,” Dr. McGown said. “It’s about building a community of educators who know that innovation, collaboration, and excellence are not just ideals, but actual practices in our schools.”

Additionally, Dr. McGown has overseen the implementation of platforms such as Schoology, Remind, and Skyward so that parents and stakeholders remain well-informed and engaged with the district's activities. 

“This award is a testament to Dr. McGown’s visionary leadership and her unwavering commitment to leveraging technology to enhance education,” Klein ISD Executive Director of Technology Services Leslie Garakani said. “Her innovative approaches and dedication to improved learning environments for students have significantly and positively impacted Klein ISD and the broader educational landscape.”
